# Creating Executable Copies of Master Forms (QualityDocs)

QualityDocs Vaults include the _Master Forms_ feature to support quality teams in managing forms and creating executable copies. 

To create an executable copy of a master form:

1. Open a document in the _Effective_ state with a _Master Form_ value of _Yes_.  
2. Click the **Actions** menu and select  **Execute Form**.  
3. Enter a **Name** for the new document. Vault defaults to the name of the master form appended with the configured suffix. 

Once you click **Execute** in the _Execute Form_ dialog, Vault performs the following actions:

* Creates and opens the new document  
* Copies all required document fields from the master to the copy, as well as any optional fields as configured  
* Notifies you on successful document creation, or if document creation fails  
* Assigns you as the _Document Owner_  
* Links the original _Master Form_ document by the system-managed _Based on Master Form_ relationship type in the _Document Relationships_ pane of the Quality Relationships panel 

## Related Permissions

Users must be assigned a permission set with the below permissions in order to work with master forms.

| Permission Label | Permission | Controls |

| Admin: Document Fields | Read, Edit | Ability to select a value in the _Master Form_ field. |
| Document Role | View Document, View Content, Create Document | Ability to view the master form and perform the _Execute Form_ action. |
| Document Role | Edit Fields | Ability to edit fields on the copied form and open the newly created copy in edit mode. |
