# Working with Quality Automated Language Translations (QMS)

Vault can automatically translate data from text fields on a _Complaint_, _Complaint Intake_, _Complaint_ _Quality Event_, or _Medtech Complaint_ _Quality Event_ record when you change the lifecycle state or run a user action on a record. Quality Automated Language Translations expedite complaint intake and processing in order to ensure that complaints are triaged quickly.

## Quality Automated Language Translations Process

Depending on your Vault's configuration and your organization's processes, the steps to translate a record might include the following:

1. When creating a _Complaint_, _Complaint Intake_, _Complaint_ type _Quality Event_, or _Medtech Complaint_ type _Quality Event_ record, set the _Translate Record_ field to **Yes**. If the target language is a language other than English, select the applicable language from the _Target Language_ drop-down. 
2. Depending on your Vault's configuration, run the _Translate Record_ user action or move the record into the lifecycle state in which the record is translated. If the action runs successfully, Vault does not send a notification. If errors occur when the action runs, Vault sends an email and Vault notification with details of the errors. Your Admin's configuration determines who receives these notifications. 
3. Verify the translated field data and edit as needed.
4. If translatable field data is added or updated after running the action, you can rerun the action to update the data in the corresponding translation fields.

## Related Permissions

To use Quality Automated Language Translations, your Admin must grant you the following permissions:

* _Edit_ permission on the target object record, including the _Translate Record_ field and all source and target translation fields
* _View_ permission for the _Source Language_ object control and the _Target Language_ object control on the target object if these object controls are configured on the target object layout
