# Configuring Training Matrix Visualization

Training Matrix Visualization is a useful tool for Training Admins and Managers to understand a given _Person_, _Curriculum_, _Learner Role_, _Training Requirement_, or _Training Requirement Impact Assessment_ training matrix record’s relationship to the other matrix records in your Veeva Training or Veeva Study Training Vault.

This illustrated depiction of your organization’s training matrix in a single view allows for easier review of related <a href="/en/gr/50953/#vault-training-objects">training matrix</a> elements.

## Feature Dependencies

Training Matrix Visualization does not require any other Training features to be enabled prior to its configuration and use.

While not required for enabling the <a href="/en/gr/627003/">My Team</a> page, we recommend enabling Training Matrix Visualization alongside this feature so that Managers can view more detailed information about a Learner’s progress.


## Configuration Overview

To enable Training Matrix Visualization in your Vault:

1. Review your Vault’s security configuration to ensure users have the appropriate object, object control, and document [permissions][1].
2. Review your Vault’s object page layout configuration for the _Person_ object and all _Training Requirement_ and _Training Requirement Impact Assessment_ object types. For each layout, <a href="/en/gr/26387/#sections">add</a> a new object page layout section referencing the appropriate Training Matrix object control:
  * _Person_ object: Person Training Matrix
  * _Training Requirement_ and _Training Requirement Impact Assessment_ objects: Training Requirement Training Matrix

## Related Permissions {#related-permissions}

To access the Training Matrix Visualization feature within an object record, users must be assigned a <a href="/en/gr/23647/">permission set</a> with the below object permissions.

* _Read_ object permissions for the below objects and their object types, as applicable:
    * _Curriculum_
    * _Curriculum-Learner Role_
    * _Learner Role_
    * _Person_
    * _Training Requirement_
    * _Training Requirement Impact Assessment_
    * _Training Requirement-Curriculum_
* _View_ object control permissions for the below objects’ Training Matrix object control, for example Person Training Matrix. Object control permissions are found in the permission set configuration under **Objects > [Object] > Object Control Permissions**:
  * _Person_
  * _Training Requirement_
  * _Training Requirement Impact Assessment_

Additionally, users must be assigned to a <a href="/en/gr/2572/">document role</a> which grants _View Document_ and _View Content_ permissions for any document referenced as a Training Material in a _Training Requirement_ or _Training Requirement Impact Assessment_ record.

### Permissions Troubleshooting

The table below maps related permissions to the permissions-related issues users may encounter when working with a matrix visualization.

| Permissions Symptom | Likely Root Cause |
|---|---|
| A user cannot see a _Learner Role_ or _Curriculum_ in the matrix. | User does not have permission for that object or object record. |
| A user cannot see a _Training Requirement_ in the matrix. | User does not have permission for _Training Requirement_ or _Training Requirement-Curriculum_ objects or object records. |
| A user cannot see a document associated with a _Training Requirement_. | User does not have permission for the Training Material document associated with the requirement. |
| A user cannot see the configured Training Matrix panel in a _Person_, _Training Requirement_, or _Training Requirement Impact Assessment_ object record. | User does not have permission for that matrix object or object record. |
| A user cannot see a check mark indicating a _Curriculum_’s relationship with a _Learner Role_ in the grid. | User does not have permission for the _Curriculum-Learner Role_ object, or the user does not have permission for that _Curriculum-Learner Role_ record. |
